We all have core values, something that we believe in strongly, despite evidence to the contrary or lack of supportive evidence Acting before understanding requires trusting instinct and resonance.
Explanation
These values often shape our identity, our behavior, and our goals for the future Goal Setting. These values represent our Subjectivity, and we often have more than one value because we contain multitude.
Why it matters
They often bring meaning to our lives, and a sense of direction. As long as we follow our core values, we believe we live a good life Focusing on process and consistency yields better results than obsessing over outcomes.
Examples
Standing up for yourself is courageous authenticity against social pressure is what this looks like in practice — choosing to voice a boundary or a disagreement even when the room is pushing the other way.
Supporters
To be moral is to act moral makes the same point from the other direction: values that never surface in action aren't really values, just stated preferences.
Opposers
However, we don't always live up to our ideals, sometimes we don't even try Insight Gap even though we know we should. Sometimes Distractions get the better of us, or we don't know which core value to follow in case they clash Facing unlimited options paralyzes decision and breeds helplessness.
